As our Specialty & Emergency hospitals continue to grow throughout Northeast Florida, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Veterinary Technician Instrument Manager to oversee the care, organization, sterilization, inventory, and quality management of our surgical instrumentation across our Orange Park and Jacksonville (E-Town) hospitals. The Veterinary Technician Instrument Manager serves as the hospital's expert in surgical instrumentation management. This position is responsible for ensuring every surgical instrument, orthopedic set, specialty tray, and sterile pack is properly cleaned, inspected, assembled, sterilized, maintained, documented, and available for every procedure. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, accountability, and a passion for continuous learning. This is not simply an instrument processing position—it is a specialized leadership support role that directly impacts patient safety, surgical efficiency, and hospital quality.

Requirements

  • Surgery Veterinary Technician experience is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Surgery Veterinary Technician experience
  • Strong understanding of surgical instrumentation and aseptic technique
  • Experience working in a specialty or emergency hospital preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality

Nice To Haves

  • CVT, LVT, or RVT preferred but not required
  • Specialty Surgery experience preferred
  • Orthopedic instrumentation experience preferred
  • Experience with steam sterilization systems
  • Inventory management experience
  • ezyVet and/or VetRadar experience is a plus
  • Leadership or mentoring experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all surgical instruments to the highest specialty hospital standards
  • Clean, inspect, organize, package, sterilize, and store all surgical instrumentation
  • Assemble specialty surgical packs accurately
  • Maintain orthopedic, soft tissue, neurologic, and specialty instrument inventories
  • Identify damaged or worn instruments requiring repair or replacement
  • Coordinate instrument repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Track instrument inventory and replacement schedules
  • Maintain sterilization records and quality assurance documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital sterilization protocols
  • Prepare surgery suites for scheduled and emergency procedures
  • Assist surgeons and surgery technicians with specialty equipment preparation
  • Develop and improve instrument organization systems
  • Support inventory ordering and supply management
  • Collaborate with Surgery, Emergency, ICU, and Specialty departments
  • Help maintain exceptional standards of patient safety and surgical excellence
