About The Position

The Instrument Technician, Gas Meter Shop will maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate a wide range of electronic equipment, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. This role involves installing, adjusting, and repairing instruments, conducting calibration tests and gas analysis, and maintaining accurate records for audits. The technician will also communicate with various areas to ensure EVC functionality, train new technicians, handle emergencies, and manage inventory and vendor transactions for operational efficiency and customer service.

Requirements

  • Must obtain OQ Certification within 6 months of entering into role.
  • A valid driver's license from state of residence is required.
  • Associate degree in Electronics Technology or related degree is required.
  • Must successfully complete Placement/Performance exercises.
  • Electronic Troubleshooting experience.
  • Basic wiring and schematics knowledge is required.
  • Basic electronic skills are required.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must successfully complete NIMS Training within one year of entering job.
  • Must have knowledge/skills in Instrumentation, PLC Logic, Logic Controllers local area network communications and associated software.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical instruments/equipment for SCADA and LNG plants to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Cleaning, repairing, calibrating, and recording instrument data; installing and maintaining wiring, record devices, and computers.
  • Analyzing wiring diagrams as needed.
  • Staying current with advancements in instrument technology, maintaining certifications, and ensuring compliance with evolving industry standards.
  • Installing, adjusting, and positioning instruments, equipment, flow computers, and testing, wiring, programming, upgrading, and replacing communication modules as needed.
  • Analyzing customer electronic test results to ensure billing accuracy and addressing customer inquiries related to meter or billing issues.
  • Accurately documenting customer setup and service order requests.
  • Performing gravity, dew point, BTU, and other gas analysis.
  • Ensuring accurate flow rate calculations at gate stations.
  • Witnessing and verifying calibrations performed by pipeline personnel.
  • Inspecting industrial gas meters for leaks or damage, and assisting with installing, removing, and replacing meter sets associated with EVC metering.
  • Entering test results and repair records into designated systems to ensure billing accuracy, support audits, and maintain equipment maintenance records.
  • Ordering supplies, maintaining inventory and stock records to ensure budget accountability.
  • Creating new services in CIS and ensuring registers are set correctly for billing purposes.
  • Entering data into Clevest to complete scheduled work.
  • Training new Electronic Instrument Technicians.
  • Coordinating with other crews to respond to emergencies.
  • Facilitating communication and scheduling between multiple teams and shops.
  • Maintaining vendor transactions related to EVC metering.
  • Performing other duties as directed.
