About The Position

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a dedicated, full-time Veterinary Technician to join our Foster Team. This position will be based at our state-of-the-art Rob and Melani Walton Papago Park Campus and will work a four-day schedule of Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 7:00 AM–6:00 PM. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience working as veterinary assistant or technician in a veterinary clinic/hospital setting.
  • Proficient with TPR, vaccine administration, implanting microchips, fluid therapy, laboratory procedures, and medication.
  • Knowledge of phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, endocrinology, pharmacology.
  • Ability to perform safe and humane animal handling.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a veterinary assistant or technician program.
  • Experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

  • Providing compassionate, high-quality care to pets in foster homes.
  • Supporting Foster Heroes.
  • Working closely with the veterinarian throughout examinations, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Obtaining medical histories and performing physical exams.
  • Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments.
  • Performing laboratory testing, blood draws, radiographs, and sedated procedures.
  • Training and mentoring other veterinary technicians in proper sedation techniques and protocols.
  • Educating Foster Heroes on medications, home care, follow-up needs, and treatment plans.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized treatment environment.
