About The Position

Trupanion is seeking a driven, reliable, and organized individual with a passion for pets to join our team as a Veterinary Sales Associate in the Ottawa area. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with veterinary practices, educating staff on the benefits of pet insurance, and integrating this into their workflow. The ideal candidate is excited about helping pets live longer, happier lives and supporting veterinary professionals in practicing the best medicine. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position with a base salary plus uncapped commission, medical benefits, and mileage reimbursement for business operations within the territory. The role requires regular travel to animal hospitals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a veterinary hospital OR a minimum of 3 years of experience in a sales role.
  • Passion for helping eliminate economic euthanasia in dogs & cats.
  • Personality to build relationships with partnering veterinarian practices.
  • Ability to present to hospital owners and staff with confidence.
  • Pet passionate and strong belief in the mission to give responsible pet owners the ability to provide the best care for their pet.
  • Able to establish and maintain good relations with customers by providing courteous, efficient, and professional service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Innate entrepreneurial drive, embodying an attitude of persistence and patience.
  • Outstanding communication and listening skills.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (primarily Outlook, Excel, and Word).
  • Must possess a valid and clean driver’s license record and reliable car.
  • Must live within the Ottawa area.
  • Willing to be on the road visiting hospitals 40 hours a week.
  • Required to be vaccinated (for visiting animal hospitals).

Responsibilities

  • Visit veterinary practices to build and strengthen relationships.
  • Educate hospital staff on the advantages of having insured clients.
  • Incorporate pet insurance into veterinary practice workflows.
  • Ensure veterinary professionals can practice the best medicine and save pets' lives.
  • Conduct administrative work from home.
  • Attend occasional veterinary conferences on weekends.
