About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated Veterinary Receptionist to join their Overnight team. In this position, the Veterinary Receptionist is imperative to the success of the hospital and is the first BluePearl Associate that the client sees. The role ensures that each client receives the necessary care and attention, requiring the ability to function calmly and compassionately in emotional and difficult situations.

Responsibilities

Greet and make friendly eye contact every time our hospital entry door opens to offer the individual warm and professional acknowledgement
Always offering a friendly smile, strong eye contact and an approachable demeanor
Being a compassionate listener
Speak clearly, slowly, and calmly in person and on the telephone in a way that clients easily understand
Assess immediately upon arrival each client’s rare need, as well as the pet’s general condition
Determine whether an emergency arrival is a “stat” versus “standard” emergency
Respond to non-patient calls or visitors and connect them to the appropriate team member
Responsible for confirming all appointments in advance ensuring clients receive accurate information about preparing their pet for the appointment
Offer emotional support and resource materials to grieving clients in a compassionate and discreet manner
Serve as a liaison between clients and service agencies during handling of pet remains by ensuring a complete, accurate, and compassionate process
