Overnight Veterinary Receptionist
About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated Veterinary Receptionist to join their Overnight team. This role is crucial to the hospital's success, as the receptionist is the first BluePearl Associate clients encounter. The position requires the ability to function calmly and compassionately in emotional and difficult situations for clients. BluePearl Pet Hospital is a national network of specialty and emergency pet hospitals, many operating 24/7. Requirements
- Possess unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S.
- Not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card
Responsibilities
- Greet and make friendly eye contact every time our hospital entry door opens to offer the individual warm and professional acknowledgement.
- Always offering a friendly smile, strong eye contact and an approachable demeanor.
- Be a compassionate listener.
- Speak clearly, slowly, and calmly in person and on the telephone in a way that clients easily understand.
- Assess immediately upon arrival each client’s rare need, as well as the pet’s general condition.
- Determine whether an emergency arrival is a “stat” versus “standard” emergency.
- Respond to non-patient calls or visitors and connect them to the appropriate team member.
- Confirm all appointments in advance ensuring clients receive accurate information about preparing their pet for the appointment.
- Offer emotional support and resource materials to grieving clients in a compassionate and discreet manner.
- Serve as a liaison between clients and service agencies during handling of pet remains by ensuring a complete, accurate, and compassionate process.
