Requirements

Animal care experience required
Client/customer interaction experience required
Receptionist experience required
Excellent communication skills

Knowledge of and ability to use medical abbreviations
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Comfort working in a busy, team-oriented veterinary environment
Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and coworkers

Responsibilities

Greet clients warmly and professionally
Answer phones, take messages, and respond to basic client questions
Understand the range of services the practice provides and the species it treats
Recommend appropriate services and provide estimates to clients
Differentiate and prioritize routine cases and emergency cases, alerting staff as needed
Understand and use special record notations and make appropriate notes in patient records
Maintain medical records and understand medical record filing systems
Process payments, prepare deposits, and assist with invoicing
Support client education and help create a positive client experience
