About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Nashville, TN is hiring an extraordinary Veterinary Receptionist. This position is crucial to the success of our hospital, as you will be the first point of contact for clients. You will ensure each client receives the care and attention they need, functioning calmly and compassionately in potentially emotional and difficult situations. The role involves greeting clients warmly, listening compassionately, communicating clearly, assessing client and pet needs upon arrival, determining emergency urgency, responding to calls and visitors, confirming appointments, and providing emotional support and resource materials to grieving clients. You will also serve as a liaison between clients and service agencies during the handling of pet remains.

  • Ability to communicate clearly, slowly, and calmly.
  • Ability to assess client and pet needs immediately upon arrival.
  • Ability to determine emergency urgency.
  • Must possess unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and make friendly eye contact with every client, offering warm and professional acknowledgement.
  • Offer a friendly smile, strong eye contact, and an approachable demeanor.
  • Be a compassionate listener.
  • Speak clearly, slowly, and calmly in person and on the telephone.
  • Assess immediately upon arrival each client’s rare need, as well as the pet’s general condition.
  • Determine whether an emergency arrival is a “stat” versus “standard” emergency.
  • Respond to non-patient calls or visitors and connect them to the appropriate team member.
  • Confirm all appointments in advance, ensuring clients receive accurate information about preparing their pet for the appointment.
  • Offer emotional support and resource materials to grieving clients in a compassionate and discreet manner.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and service agencies during handling of pet remains by ensuring a complete, accurate, and compassionate process.
