About The Position

This position is responsible for getting the client(s) and patient(s) set up in the exam room and acquiring the necessary information needed for the doctor. Verifying patient and client appointment information, stocking exam rooms as needed, picking up meds at pharmacy, assisting doctors as needed and more. The runner must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor and positively represent the clinic. They must maintain excellent customer service and communicate well with clients and staff and visitors. Must be a good listener and pay great attention to details while always acting in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner, must maintain a high level of patience, while able to multitask in many aspects.

  • Attendance is required the day before and after any holiday unless otherwise approved
  • Attendance and timeliness to your scheduled shift is a requirement
  • Understand and be able to pronounce procedures we perform and be able to explain them to the client
  • Always demonstrate patience with clients and coworkers
  • Create and participate in a drama-free working environment
  • This position is labor intense and requires you to be on your feet moving 8 hours a day

Responsibilities

  • Patient and client care are number one – greet and assist clients in a friendly and professional manner for any and all needs with a smile
  • Perform opening procedures, i.e. waiting area is clean and free of clutter, exam rooms are clean, rooms are stocked for the day, get surgery drop offs checked in, etc.
  • Get patients weighed in every time and set up in exam rooms for doctors.
  • Enter information into VetRadar.
  • If it’s a drop-off for surgery, set up a cage/run in the appropriate ward, communicate with the surgery staff about that patient, and place it on the correct surgery white board.
  • Notify doctors of patient arrival, over the PA system.
  • Receive signed surgery/treatment consent, euthanasia, and agreement forms from clients and or doctors and process accordingly.
  • Scan them into the clinical record, and or coordinate with billing.
  • Check on existing clients in rooms waiting for the doctor to come in, acknowledge them so they don’t feel forgotten if it’s been a while, and update them on their wait time.
  • Handle miscellaneous correspondence as directed.
  • Maintain clean and stock exam rooms throughout your shift.
  • Maintain a clean and clutter free lobby area, perform thorough daily cleaning of lobby and exam rooms, and outside garbage cans.
  • Scan records, reports, faxes and any other data as instructed to the client's account.
  • Handle emergency situations as needed promptly, calmly, and thoroughly
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in speaking and writing and work well with all team members and ensure your actions support the clinic, the doctors, and the practice philosophy
  • Maintain a professional appearance and a positive attitude while providing compassionate and outstanding care.
  • Be passionate about quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to be flexible and resourceful and operate effectively in an unpredictable environment.

  • Attendance and timeliness to your scheduled shift is a requirement.
  • If you have any scheduling conflicts, please see your Hospital Administrator or Staff Manager.
  • Assist in training new employees at the discretion of management.
  • Understand and be able to pronounce procedures we perform and be able to explain them to the client.
  • Always demonstrate patience with clients and coworkers.
  • Create and participate in a drama-free working environment.

  • This position is labor intense and requires you to be on your feet moving 8 hours a day.
