About The Position

Norwich Regional Animal Hospital is looking for a compassionate and engaged Veterinary Patient Care Coordinator / Veterinary Assistant to join their small but mighty team. They are a small animal general practice with an amazing and diverse clientele, committed to quality medicine, compassionate care, and supporting each patient’s individual needs. The team works hard, values each person’s education and lived experience, and has as much fun as possible while meeting the needs of their clients and patients. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, compassionate, team-focused, and interested in both client service and patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent administrative, phone, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills and comfort navigating software platforms
  • Ability to discuss financial arrangements professionally
  • Compassionate communication skills, especially with worried or emotional clients
  • Ability to balance client needs with medical team workflow
  • Patience, calmness, and professionalism while maintaining boundaries
  • Positive attitude and team-first mindset
  • Ability to multitask with attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to ask for help when needed
  • Passion for animal welfare and client care

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an animal or human medical setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a first point of contact for clients in person and over the phone
  • Respond to client communications with compassion and professionalism
  • Schedule appointments and help manage the hospital calendar
  • Request medical records and coordinate referrals with other hospitals
  • Manage client accounts and accurately document communications
  • Prepare estimates and discuss financial commitments with clients
  • Build rapport and long-term relationships with clients and pets
  • Assist in animal examinations and treatments
  • Monitor and comfort patients before and after procedures
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms, equipment, and surgical tools
  • Administer medications and collect lab samples as directed
  • Educate clients on pet care, nutrition, and preventive medicine
  • Maintain accurate patient records
