About The Position
The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University is seeking a Veterinary Ophthalmologist for a full-time or part-time faculty position. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive veterinary ophthalmology services at the SSVM Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, contributing to clinical teaching, student mentorship, and service excellence. This role offers the opportunity to join a functioning specialty service with potential for growth and expansion of clinical capabilities and educational programs. The position is open-rank and can be on either the Clinical Track or Tenure Track, with flexible appointment options considered. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative ophthalmologist with excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for mentoring future veterinarians.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
- Completion of an ophthalmology training program
- Board certification or board eligibility through the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) or equivalent
- Eligibility for veterinary licensure in New Jersey
- Demonstrated expertise in companion animal ophthalmology
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary specialty hospital
- Strong interest in clinical teaching and mentorship

- Previous teaching, mentoring, or academic experience
- Interest in veterinary ophthalmology education

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive ophthalmology consultation and treatment for companion animal patients
- Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostics and procedures
- Collaborate with primary care and specialty clinicians to provide integrated patient care
- Support communication and relationships with referring veterinarians
- Participate in clinical teaching and mentorship of veterinary students, interns, residents, and veterinary technology students
- Contribute to ophthalmology curriculum development and clinical skills training
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and service development
- Engage in scholarly activity or clinical research consistent with individual interests
- Contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive hospital culture
