About The Position

Join Evolution Veterinary Specialists (EVS), a privately owned, AAHA-accredited specialty and emergency hospital located in Lakewood, Colorado. As a Veterinary Oncologist, you will play a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and managing cancer in veterinary patients using advanced therapies such as surgery, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. You will develop and oversee individualized treatment plans, collaborate with primary care veterinarians and a multidisciplinary team, and communicate compassionately with pet owners. This position is ideal for a compassionate, highly skilled, and curious individual passionate about providing advanced cancer care and making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. You will build and manage a diverse oncology caseload, utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technology, and contribute to the growth of the oncology service through education and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Colorado Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) License.
  • Board Certification through ACVIM.
  • Registration with DORA.
  • AVMA PLIT Insurance.
  • DEA License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced oncology care in accordance with ACVIM guidelines, establishing and managing a strong caseload while delivering compassionate, ethical, and high-quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with specialists, emergency doctors, technicians, referring veterinarians, and clients to develop individualized treatment plans and ensure comprehensive care and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records, treatment plans, and client estimates while balancing each patient’s medical needs with the client’s financial considerations.
  • Lead, mentor, and support oncology technicians and technician assistants while actively participating in hospital rounds, department meetings, team-building activities, and continuing education.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Oncology service through community outreach, Lunch & Learns, marketing events, and ongoing relationship-building with referring veterinary practices.
