Requirements

  • Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state where the VEG practice is located.
  • A.S. or B.S. from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a clinical veterinary nursing role, with emergency-specific experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Willingness to work in an environment with strong or unpleasant odors.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with diverse individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the nursing team, ensuring they have the necessary tools and support.
  • Oversee scheduling, payroll, productivity, hiring, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
  • Address patient care issues and team dynamics with empathy and clarity.
  • Collaborate with other hospital leadership and shift leads to align on goals and hospital operations.
  • Utilize feedback from veterinarians to guide team development and maintain medical standards.
  • Lead the team in accordance with VEG values, emphasizing openness, togetherness, and helpfulness.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning through in-house training, mentorship, and development programs.
  • Ensure the team adheres to licensure, performance standards, and educational requirements.
  • Conduct meaningful one-on-one meetings, check-ins, and student mentorship to support career growth.
