VERG Brooklyn is looking for an experienced Veterinary Laboratory Technician to join their team. This role involves performing diagnostic testing, managing laboratory equipment, and delivering accurate, timely results to the medical teams for treatment decisions. The technician will be an essential part of the medical team, communicating directly with veterinarians and nursing staff. Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in a veterinary or medical laboratory setting.
  • Experience in a referral or specialty hospital.
  • Comfortable working with common laboratory techniques, veterinary analyzers, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Takes pride in producing accurate, dependable results.
  • Notices the small details without losing sight of urgent priorities.
  • Stays organized while managing multiple tests and requests.
  • Communicates clearly and works well with others.
  • Remains calm and focused when the hospital gets busy.
  • Willing to help, learn, and share knowledge with the team.

Responsibilities

  • Performing hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, cytology, and microbiology testing.
  • Preparing, processing, labeling, and storing samples.
  • Preparing and staining cytology slides and providing interpretation support.
  • Operating and maintaining equipment such as IDEXX and Abaxis analyzers, microscopes, and centrifuges.
  • Entering results accurately and promptly into electronic medical records.
  • Monitoring quality control standards.
  • Troubleshooting equipment and testing issues.
  • Communicating with medical teams to prioritize urgent samples.
  • Keeping the laboratory clean, organized, and well stocked.
  • Helping train new team members when needed.
