About The Position
VERG Brooklyn is looking for an experienced Veterinary Laboratory Technician to join their team. Requirements
- At least two years of experience in a veterinary or medical laboratory setting.
- Experience in a referral or specialty hospital.
- Comfortable working with common laboratory techniques, veterinary analyzers, and diagnostic equipment.
- Takes pride in producing accurate, dependable results.
- Notices the small details without losing sight of urgent priorities.
- Stays organized while managing multiple tests and requests.
- Communicates clearly and works well with others.
- Remains calm and focused when the hospital gets busy.
- Willing to help, learn, and share knowledge with the team.
Responsibilities
- Performing hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, cytology, and microbiology testing.
- Preparing, processing, labeling, and storing samples.
- Preparing and staining cytology slides and providing interpretation support.
- Operating and maintaining equipment such as IDEXX and Abaxis analyzers, microscopes, and centrifuges.
- Entering results accurately and promptly into electronic medical records.
- Monitoring quality control standards.
- Troubleshooting equipment and testing issues.
- Communicating with medical teams to prioritize urgent samples.
- Keeping the laboratory clean, organized, and well stocked.
- Helping train new team members when needed.
