The University of Maryland, Baltimore's Veterinary Resources program is seeking a Veterinary Laboratory Animal Research Specialist (Laboratory Animal Research Specialist) to support veterinary care and research activities on campus. The incumbent will provide advanced veterinary technical skills to research procedures, ensuring animal welfare. The veterinary technician will work in a highly collaborative environment supporting research project goals. The incumbent will review and understand animal use protocols to ensure regulatory compliance with procedures. This position will assist clinical veterinarians and may obtain and ship samples and tissues for clinical and research purposes. May confer with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and interface with US Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspectors. Work is performed in accordance with animal welfare regulations, USDA, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, Public Health Service (PHS), Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW), Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC), IACUC guidelines, and United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21CFR58 Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) regulations.
