Laboratory Animal Caretaker
About The Position
The Laboratory Animal Caretaker will take care of lab animals in order to help research work. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, with a schedule of either Tuesday - Saturday OR Sunday - Thursday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is an FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for overtime. The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation. Resume/CV and cover letter should be included with the online application. Responsibilities
- Washes and sterilizes animal caging equipment and supplies, including use of autoclaves, rack washers, tunnel washers, and other specialized equipment
- Monitors animals’ health and welfare to detect symptoms of disease or changes in conditions and promptly reports them via facility protocol to veterinary staff
- Attends to the physical needs of animals such as feeding, watering, and providing environmental enrichment
- Performs minimal housekeeping duties such as sweeping and mopping and laundry
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission
Benefits
- Location pay of $4,000 per year
- Eligible for overtime provisions of the FLSA
