About The Position

Yukon Veterinary Hospital provides a wide range of services from vaccinations and routine medical care to advanced diagnostics and surgery. We offer complete dental care, weight management consultations, soft tissue surgery, as well as diagnosis and treatment of internal medicine cases. Our facility has state of the art medical equipment enabling us to provide in house laboratory diagnostics, digital radiology, and ultrasonography. This is a part-time position with a schedule of 15-25 hours per week, requiring availability on weekends, holidays, and occasional morning shifts.

Requirements

Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
Proper methods of animal restraint.
Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
Perform moderately heavy physical labor (large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods, etc).
Ability to sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared and injured animals.
Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions.
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.
Part-time schedule of 15–25 hours per week.
Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and occasional morning shifts.

Responsibilities

Care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of patients in the hospital and boarding facility.
Cleaning, laundry, bathing, feeding, walking dogs, and medicating patients.
Restocking hospital supplies.
Helping with post-operative patients.
Assisting doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams.
Proper recordkeeping of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior, and any issue that may arise while the animal is in our care.
Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments (training provided).
