About The Position

Crete Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Part-time Veterinary Kennel Technician. This role is responsible for the care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of patients in the hospital, barns, and boarding facility, including outside of normal business hours. Duties involve cleaning inside and outside the clinic, laundry, feeding/watering, walking dogs, and administering medications. The technician will maintain proper records of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior, and any issues that arise during an animal's stay.

Requirements

• Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
• Proper methods of animal restraint.
• Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
• Perform moderate to heavy physical labor (move large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods, scrape cattle pens, muck out horse stalls, etc).
• Ability to sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared and injured animals.
• Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions.
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.
• Morning, evening, weekend and holiday availability required.

Responsibilities

• Care, feeding, and medicating of patients in the hospital, barns, and boarding facility outside of normal business hours.
• Cleaning inside and outside the clinic.

• Feeding and watering animals.
• Walking dogs.
• Administering medications to patients.
• Proper recordkeeping of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior, and any issues that may arise.
• Participate in a rotating weekend schedule, covering morning/afternoon shifts on Saturdays and Sundays.
