About The Position

Crete Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Part-time Veterinary Kennel Technician. This role is responsible for the care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of patients in the hospital, barns, and boarding facility, particularly outside of normal business hours. Duties include cleaning inside and outside the clinic, laundry, feeding/watering, walking dogs, and administering medications. Accurate recordkeeping of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior, and any issues that arise is essential.

Requirements

Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
Proper methods of animal restraint.
Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor.
Ability to sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared, and injured animals.
Ability to learn to administer medications and recognize abnormal conditions.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.
Morning, evening, weekend, and holiday availability required.

Responsibilities

Care, feeding, and medicating of patients in the hospital, barns, and boarding facility.
Cleaning inside and outside the clinic, including barns and stalls.
Laundry duties.
Feeding and watering animals.
Walking dogs.
Administering medications to patients.
Proper recordkeeping of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior, and any issues.
Performing moderate to heavy physical labor such as moving large dogs, bags of litter and pet foods, scraping cattle pens, and mucking out horse stalls.
