About The Position

We are seeking full time veterinary technicians to join our anesthesia team. Our techs have a passion for anesthesia and pain management. They work closely with services to provide anesthesia to patients undergoing procedures and play a key role in training veterinary students and other veterinary technicians in the nursing skills specific for anesthesia. University of Florida ranked #9 among veterinary medical colleges nationwide. We are located in north Central Florida in the town of Gainesville, Florida. We see over 45,000 patients in our small animal hospital and have 16 specialty services in the Small Animal Hospital. We also have a 24/7 emergency clinic and a primary care facility. Due to its location, Gainesville, is surrounded by parks, lakes, and natural springs, and is truly where nature and culture meet. We are Just north of Ocala (known as the horse capital of the world), as well as a short drive to Walt Disney World and many award-winning beaches not to mention several parks and fishing spots. Our town is very diverse and usually has something for everyone. We are willing to train new veterinary technician graduates or credentialed techs who have a strong interest and want to grow in the field. We have several anesthesia technicians included those that have earned their VTS that are there to support one.

Requirements

  • Veterinary Hospital Anesthesiology Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent and one year relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Veterinary Hospital Anesthesiology Technician II: Credentialed veterinary technician and VTS specialty certified in specific area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide anesthesia to small animal patients undergoing procedures and deliver high quality patient care under the direction of an anesthesiologists.
  • Reviewing and interpreting a multitude of information to provide an evidence based approach to the care of the patient, continually monitoring patients to detect changes and intervene proactively to prevent complications.
  • Work closely with specialty services to ensure cases are being handled safely and efficiently.
  • Shape future veterinarians and technicians on veterinary care, specially anesthesia, through one on one training with our diverse student and staff population.
