About The Position

Broadway Veterinary Clinic is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work with experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to provide animals with high-quality care and maintain strong customer service. The position includes assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; handling animals; performing basic laboratory tasks; and helping maintain a clean, safe clinic. The schedule is four 10-hour shifts. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with one Saturday morning per month. Compensation is $20.00–$24.00 per hour, based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.

Broadway Veterinary Clinic has served the Bangor, Maine area since 1980. Its modern facility, built in 2002, is designed to provide cutting-edge technology and comfort for clients. The clinic has four veterinarians and more than twenty staff members.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
