About The Position

The Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency Centre (CARE Centre) is seeking a full-time Contract Veterinary Neurology Tech Assistant to join their dedicated and dynamic pet healthcare team. The CARE Centre is a 24-hour emergency and referral specialty hospital committed to providing the highest level of emergency and referral care. This role involves assisting AHTs and the Neurologist with daily tasks and patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Previous or equivalent veterinary experience in a clinic setting is required.
• Energetic, self-motivated, outgoing personality.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Interest in continual learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist the AHTs and Neurologist with daily tasks and patient care.
• Perform proper restraint techniques when assisting AHTs and DVMs to assess and treat patients.
• Assist DVM and AHTs while they collect samples, take radiographs and prepare for surgeries.
• Communicate with clients, providing daily updates on pet status, financial updates, and patient discharge.
• Provide physical and emotional support for patients.
• Help maintain hospital treatment areas and ensure general cleanliness.
