Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
Yorktown Veterinary Associates provides a wide range of services including Vaccinations, Health Certificates, Disease prevention, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, complete dental care, weight management consultations, soft tissue surgery, and diagnosis and treatment of internal medicine cases. The facility is equipped with State of the Art medical equipment for in-house laboratory diagnostics and digital radiology. Electronic medical records are used for efficient data transfer. The team consists of friendly, caring, and well-trained professionals dedicated to providing the best medical and surgical care for pets, aiming to make the client experience comfortable and comforting.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2-years experience as a Veterinary Assistant
- Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
- Able to properly restrain pets
- Proficient in sample collection
- Proficient in obtaining medical histories
- Proficient in processing laboratory tests
- Proficient in processing radiographs
- Proficient in anesthesia monitoring
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset
- Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
- May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases
Responsibilities
- Pet restraint
- Triage incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthetic management
