About The Position
The Pet Wellness Group is hiring a part-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to ensure animals receive quality care during their stay. The role involves assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; handling animals; supporting laboratory work and medication administration; maintaining records and clinic areas; and communicating with pet owners. The schedule is part-time, up to 28 hours per week. The salary is $13.00–$17.00 per hour, based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
- Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
- Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Enthusiasm, reliability, and commitment to animal care and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
- Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
- Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
- Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
