About The Position

Oath Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide animal care and customer service. The role supports animals during examinations, treatments, and surgeries, and includes assisting with routine clinic operations and communicating with pet owners. The position is full-time, with scheduled shifts Monday and Friday from 7:45 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The stated pay range is $18–$24 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications. A sign-on bonus is offered. Oath Animal Hospital is a veterinary hospital in East Meadow that opened in May 2023. Its services include preventative and dental care, diagnostic imaging, surgery, and an in-house pharmacy.

Requirements

Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is preferred.
Technical know-how in disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and maintaining a safe, sanitary environment.
