About The Position

Modern Animal is hiring a Veterinary Assistant in Encino to work alongside veterinarians and veterinary technicians to provide care to animal patients. The role supports clinical appointments and procedures, patient handling, medical records, laboratory work, radiology, medication-related tasks, and clinic upkeep. It also involves communicating discharge instructions to pet owners and supporting local marketing efforts to grow clinic membership as needed.

The Veterinary Assistant is expected to contribute to a collaborative, continuously learning environment and model Modern Animal’s cultural vision, including work/life balance, self-compassion, and a blame- and judgment-free workplace.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Assistant.
• Strong work ethic.
• Forward-thinking and curious mindset.
• Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
• Excellent client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle and restrain pets for examinations.
• Record accurate medical records using appropriate veterinary terminology.
• Assist medical team members with appointments, X-rays, laboratory work, and other procedures.
• Complete laboratory work as needed.
• Perform radiology with an understanding of appropriate fields.
• Complete medical calculations as needed.
• Understand commonly used veterinary medications.
• Clean and maintain the clinic as needed.
• Collaborate closely with doctors of veterinary medicine (DVMs) and coworkers.
• Communicate discharge instructions to owners.
• Act as a Modern Animal brand ambassador, including implementing local marketing efforts to grow the clinic membership base as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the team leader.
• Contribute to continuous learning, improvement, and excellence.
