About The Position
Carolina Forest Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant to join their team in Myrtle Beach, SC. This is a fast-paced, high-volume, 7-doctor small animal clinic that exclusively cares for dogs and cats. They offer a wide range of services with a strong focus on wellness, preventive care, and soft tissue surgery, with one doctor having a special interest in orthopedics. The hospital is part of the Mission Pet Health network, providing access to robust internal education, mentorship, and specialty consultations. The location in Myrtle Beach offers a high quality of life with access to beaches, dining, and outdoor activities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
- Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
- Must-Have Skills: Running appointments efficiently, Proper animal restraint techniques, Venipuncture proficiency, Knowledge of preventive care & vaccine protocols, Understand the “ why ” behind each vaccine, Familiarity with core vs. non-core vaccines (e.g., Lyme), Being able to accurately discuss preventives with clients.

- Assist the medical team with hands-on patient care.
- Anticipate the needs of veterinarians and technicians to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Assist with scheduling, payments, and client communications.

- Perform proper animal restraint techniques.
- Perform venipuncture.

- Assist with surgical procedures.
