Veterinary Assistant - Neurology
About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to support its Neurology team. The role provides nursing care to stable patients, assists with consultations and diagnostic procedures, communicates patient information to clinicians, and supports clients with education, discharge instructions, follow-up calls, and medication refills. The position calls for a strong knowledge base, motivation to learn, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Requirements
- Strong knowledge base.
- Motivation to learn and ambition to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Comfort with IVC placement and venipuncture.
- Understanding of normal vital parameters.
- Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S., with no need for future employment-based green-card sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
- Discharge patients, perform follow-up calls, and refill medications.
- Educate clients, gather patient histories, and communicate those histories to the clinician.
- Perform physical examinations and accurately measure heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, and respiratory rate and effort.
- Understand normal vital parameters.
- Place intravenous catheters (IVCs) and perform venipuncture.
- Set up intravenous fluids.
- Operate intravenous fluid pumps of all brands and troubleshoot errors.
- Restrain patients during consultations and diagnostic procedures.
