About The Position

TotalBond Veterinary Hospital at Forestbrook is seeking a part-time Veterinary Assistant to join their team of experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and devoted support staff. The role focuses on ensuring each animal receives the best possible care and maintaining high standards of animal care and customer service. The hospital offers support for both work and home life. Since 1979, TotalBond Veterinary Hospital at Forestbrook has proudly served the Gastonia community, fostering strong relationships with pet owners and delivering exceptional care for a variety of pets including dogs, cats, small mammals, and exotic pets. The team, led by Dr. Mark Epstein (Gastonia’s only Board-certified canine and feline practice specialist), is committed to providing the latest innovations in veterinary medicine, from routine wellness exams to advanced procedures. The facility is AAHA-accredited and features a Fear-Free Certified team, aiming to make every visit stress-free, safe, and comfortable for pets, while also offering top-tier communication and service for owners. The hospital provides in-house diagnostics, advanced imaging, and emphasizes preventative and senior pet care to ensure pets remain healthy, happy, and comfortable throughout their lives.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience veterinary experience is required.
  • Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
  • Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
  • Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
  • Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
  • Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
  • Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
  • Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment
