Experienced Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
North Reading Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their team. This full-service, small animal hospital sees dogs and cats and provides a range of services including comprehensive medical care, digital radiography, routine and orthopedic surgical care, dental prophylaxis with radiography, mass removals, ultrasounds, and in-house lab work/diagnostics. The clinic's goal is to practice high-quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education. The role involves direct patient care, client communication, and administrative tasks within a busy clinic environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2-years experience as a Veterinary Assistant preferred
- Surgery experience required
- Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
- Must be able to properly restrain pets
- Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities
- Pet restraint
- Triage incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthetic management
