Here is what a shift as a Veterinary Assistant at West Chelsea Veterinary actually looks like. You start by helping prep a patient for surgery, jump in to help restrain during an exam, walk a worried pet parent through their dog's discharge instructions, and somehow make it all look easy. Requirements
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital or similar setting, though newer candidates with a strong desire to learn are encouraged to apply
- A calm, steady presence with animals and the people who love them
- Strong communication skills with both clients and teammates
- Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable when the day throws you a curveball
- Cool under pressure and comfortable in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Eager to keep learning and growing in your role
- A team-first mindset and the willingness to pitch in wherever you are needed
Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate medical records and helping answer client questions
- Prepping patients for exams and surgeries
- Administering medications as directed
- Assisting with lab testing including blood, fecal, and urine
- Cleaning and sanitizing surgical tools, kennels, and exam areas
- Monitoring post-op patients and reporting any changes
- Safely restraining patients during exams and procedures
- Helping educate pet parents on medications, treatments, and care
- Partnering with credentialed technicians and veterinarians to deliver top-tier care
