Experienced Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
North Reading Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their team. This is a full-service, small animal hospital that sees dogs and cats. Services include comprehensive medical care, digital radiography, routine and orthopedic surgical care, dental prophylaxis with radiography, mass removals, ultrasounds, and in-house lab work/diagnostics. The clinic's goal is to practice high-quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education. The role involves various tasks related to patient care, diagnostics, and client communication. The clinic offers opportunities for growth through virtual and hands-on training and continuing development.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2-years experience as a Veterinary Assistant preferred
- Surgery experience required
- Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
- Must be able to properly restrain pets
- Proficient in sample collection
- Proficient in obtaining medical histories
- Proficient in processing laboratory tests and radiographs
- Proficient in anesthesia monitoring
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset

Responsibilities
- Pet restraint
- Triage incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
