About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Blaine, MN is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Overnight Veterinary Assistant to join their fast-paced emergency department. This role is for individuals committed and passionate about enriching lives through remarkable care for pets, who thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rewarding work environment, and enjoy working together on a team to provide quality care for pets. The Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases, assist DVM with crafting and going over estimates, perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc.), set up patients in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharge patients, and handle client communication.

Requirements

Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
Perform phlebotomy.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
