About The Position

Seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join a hospital team that feels like family, while having the support and resources to push your career forward. Located just 5 miles from the beaches of the Jersey Shore, VCA Toms River Animal Hospital is a 7 doctor general practice offering wellness and sick care, digital radiography including dental x-rays, surgery, FAST ultrasound, rehabilitation and laser therapy, acupuncture, in-house bloodwork, and hospitalization. We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team full time. The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. The pay range for this position is $17-$22/hr. As a member of VCA Toms River, you will support technician and doctor teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Your mission will be to win the confidence of every pet parent—by delivering an outstanding client experience—so we can provide exceptional care to every patient.

Requirements

Experience as a veterinary technician/assistant is required
Experience in emergency medicine, surgery, and dentistry
Excellent communication skills
Flexibility in hours including (but not limited to) evenings, weekends, and holidays
Willingness and capability to be cross-trained in reception and kennel
Working knowledge of computers
Team player mindset, willing to learn new techniques and treatments

Nice To Haves

Credentialed (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred but not required
A positive, encouraging and supportive attitude

Responsibilities

Assisting Veterinarians with appointments
Assisting Veterinarians with surgeries and anesthetic dentistry
Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
Maintaining medical records
Filling prescriptions
Providing compassionate care and a "home away from home" for hospitalized pets
Providing exceptional customer service for our clients
