About The Position

North Reading Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their team. This is a full-service, small animal hospital that sees dogs and cats. Services include comprehensive medical care, digital radiography, routine and orthopedic surgical care, dental prophylaxis with radiography, mass removals, ultrasounds, and in-house lab work/diagnostics. The clinic's goal is to practice high-quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education. The clinic is located in North Reading, Massachusetts, near Boston, offering access to both natural beauty and urban amenities.

Requirements

Minimum of 2-years experience preferred
Surgery experience required

Proficient in sample collection
Obtaining medical histories
Processing laboratory tests and radiographs

Responsibilities

Pet restraint
Triage incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance
Anesthetic management
Withstand unpleasant odors and noises
May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases
