About The Position

Oath Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The role supports animals during their stay at the hospital and includes assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; animal handling; sample collection; medication administration under veterinary supervision; and maintaining clean, safe clinical areas.

The position is full-time, with scheduled shifts on Monday and Friday from 7:45 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The listed pay range is $18–$24 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications. A sign-on bonus is offered.

Oath Animal Hospital is a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital in East Meadow, opened in May 2023. Its services include preventative care, dental care, diagnostic imaging, surgery, and an in-house pharmacy. The hospital serves pets in the greater East Meadow and Long Island areas.

Requirements

• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
