About The Position

The University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals (UF Veterinary Hospitals) is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for its 40,000 sq foot hospital located at the World Equestrian Center (WEC) in Ocala. This facility, situated on a 300-acre equine property, offers small animal primary care and emergency services, as well as equine sports medicine, rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging. The Veterinary Assistant will support patient care for both small animals and horses, assist with procedures, manage stocking, provide administrative support, and maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the hospital and its equipment. This role requires individuals with horse handling skills and experience who are eager to learn.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Horse handling skills and experience
• Enjoy learning new things
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend, kneel, pull, push, twist and stand for an extended period of time

Nice To Haves

• More than two years work experience handling and restraining horses
• Experience in veterinary medicine
