Veterinary Assistant, Overnight Equine and Small Animal
About The Position
The University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals (UFVH) at the World Equestrian Center (WEC) is a 40,000 sq ft hospital located at a 300-acre equine facility in Ocala. UFVH at WEC offers small animal primary care and emergency services, as well as equine sports medicine, rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging services. A Veterinary Assistant in this role will support small animal and equine patient care, assist with procedures, manage stocking, provide administrative support, and maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the hospital and its equipment. This position requires individuals to have horse handling skills and experience, and a willingness to learn new things.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend, kneel, pull, push, twist and stand for an extended period of time.
Nice To Haves
- More than two years work experience handling and restraining horses
- Experience in veterinary medicine
Responsibilities
- Assists with small animal and equine patient care, procedures, stocking, administrative support, and general cleaning and maintenance of the hospital and equipment.
- Must possess horse handling skills and experience.
