About The Position

TLC Cat Clinic is a cat-only veterinary practice in Plymouth, Minnesota, providing compassionate care focused on preventive care, responsible pet ownership, and client education. The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and technicians with feline patient care, surgery, laboratory work, and client education, while also assisting with front desk responsibilities such as welcoming clients and scheduling appointments. Requirements

• Ability to work weekends as required.
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques, including proper use of PPE.
• Basic math skills and ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

• Previous veterinary experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with examinations by gathering patient histories, vital signs, and weights.
• Handle cats gently and in a cat-friendly manner to help them feel comfortable.
• Collect samples, perform in-house laboratory testing, and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.
• Assist with radiographs while following safety procedures.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Monitor hospitalized cats and communicate patient updates to the medical team.
• Welcome clients, schedule appointments, and assist with front desk duties.
• Provide client education with warmth and professionalism.
• Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, organized, and stocked.
• Support teammates and assist with other duties as needed.
