Experienced Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
Saint Francis Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their progressive, fast-paced 5-doctor small animal practice in Augusta, GA. The hospital offers a wide range of services including Preventative Services, Wellness Plans, Holistic Medicine, Emergency & Critical Care, General & Emergency Surgery, Digital X-Ray, a Dedicated Dental Suite, Ultrasound, Full In-House Laboratory, In-House Pharmacy, and Therapeutic Laser. The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, with no on-call shifts or overnight hours. Technicians are paired with a dedicated doctor and function as part of the treatment team. Augusta, GA, offers a healthy and active work-life balance with access to various activities and proximity to major cities.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a Veterinary Assistant preferred
- Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
- Must be able to properly restrain pets
- Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
Responsibilities
- Pet restraint
- Triage incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthetic management
