About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NYC is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team during the front-half of the week! This is a per diem position with a pay rate of $22.50 - $32.80 per hour, dependent on experience and advancement through their competency assessment tool. Competitive shift differential pay is offered for eligible hours worked on nights and weekends. The Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases, assist with crafting and reviewing estimates, perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork), set up patients in ICU or the Inpatient ward, discharge patients, and handle client communication.

Requirements

Knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant
Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities

Assist with nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Stock, clean and maintain cleanliness in our ER, ICU and other designated areas for the role.
Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration under the guidance of an LVT.
Perform radiography and lab work.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Engage with our clients by performing triages, going over estimates and providing discharge instruction.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
