About The Position
The Veterinary Emergency Referral Center (VERC) is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team in Pensacola, Florida. Requirements
- Minimum of one year of Veterinary Assistant experience required; emergency or specialty veterinary experience preferred.
- Understanding of basic veterinary assistant skills, including patient restraint, radiology support, anesthesia assistance, and patient care.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, surgical instruments, aseptic technique, sterilization processes, and instrument handling preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume emergency environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and veterinary team members.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and compassionate in stressful situations.
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills are required for this role.
Nice To Haves
- emergency or specialty veterinary experience preferred.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, surgical instruments, aseptic technique, sterilization processes, and instrument handling preferred.
- Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency and specialty hospital environment.
- Assist Veterinary Technicians and doctors with patient treatments, procedures, and daily nursing care.
- Perform safe patient restraint and assist with obtaining diagnostic imaging, including radiographs.
- Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery under the direction of veterinary team members.
- Provide care for hospitalized patients, including cleaning, feeding, walking, and monitoring patient comfort.
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies to support efficient patient care.
- Assist with surgical procedures, including instrument preparation, sterilization, wrapping, and storage.
- Maintain excellent aseptic technique and follow proper cleaning and sterilization procedures.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding patient care and hospital needs.
- Support a positive, collaborative team environment focused on exceptional patient outcomes.
