About The Position

Oath Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide quality animal care and customer service. The role involves assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; caring for and safely handling animals; supporting clinic operations; and communicating with pet owners about their pets’ care.

The position is full-time, with scheduled shifts on Monday and Friday from 7:45 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Pay is $18–$24 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications. A competitive sign-on bonus is offered.

Oath Animal Hospital is a veterinary hospital in East Meadow offering preventative and dental care, diagnostic imaging, surgery, and an in-house pharmacy.

Requirements

• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe, sanitary environment.
