Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The role involves assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; caring for animals; maintaining clinical spaces and records; and communicating with pet owners. The hospital operates seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Candidates must have open availability, including evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays. The position pays $20.00–$24.00 per hour, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications. At least one year of veterinary experience is required. Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital is an AAHA-accredited practice in Wildwood, Missouri. Founded in October 2000, it serves canine, feline, equine, and pocket-pet patients and emphasizes continuing education, compassion, and up-to-date facilities and equipment.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
- Technical know-how in disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
- Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Open availability, including evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliability and a team-oriented attitude.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
- Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
- Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
- Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe, sanitary environment.
