Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
VCA Old Town Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join its five-doctor general practice. The hospital has served its community for more than 30 years and describes its close-knit team as a supportive place to develop a veterinary career. Applicants may have prior veterinary experience or be new to the field and seeking mentorship. The Veterinary Assistant helps maintain a positive, low-stress atmosphere for clients and patients and delivers an outstanding client experience to support exceptional patient care. The role may use skills in compassionate patient care, client education, pharmacy and medication administration, laboratory sample collection and processing, diagnostic imaging, surgical preparation and assistance, anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, and medical recordkeeping. The position is available full-time or part-time. The stated salary range is $18.50–$23 per hour. Responsibilities
- Help create and maintain a positive, low-stress atmosphere for clients and patients.
- Deliver an outstanding client experience and help build pet parents’ confidence.
- Provide compassionate patient care.
- Educate clients and support their care needs.
- Assist with pharmacy tasks and medication administration.
- Collect and process laboratory samples.
- Perform or assist with diagnostic imaging.
- Prepare for and assist with surgery.
- Monitor anesthesia.
- Assist with dentistry.
- Maintain medical records.
