About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join its team at All Friends Animal Hospital. The Veterinary Assistant helps provide compassionate nursing care and supports the hospital’s veterinary and reception teams. The role requires a friendly, outgoing, people-oriented, self-motivated team player with attention to detail, effective oral and written communication, and strong technical skills.

Requirements

At least 1 year of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
High school diploma.
Friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented; self-motivated team player with attention to detail, effective oral and written communication, and strong technical skills.
Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Frequently lift 40 pounds; frequently stand, walk, and climb stairs.
Able to use a computer system and multi-line telephone.
Able to handle dogs on leashes and restrain animals during medical examinations.
Able to work around disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.

Responsibilities

Help ensure clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
Assist veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care.
Clean, maintain, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Fill prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explain prescription directions.
Assist receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and provide telephone support.
Perform laboratory tests.
Keep facilities clean and well maintained.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
