About The Position
VCA Aventura Animal Hospital & Pet Resort is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their dedicated team full-time. This is a busy, supportive, and collaborative hospital that thrives on delivering the highest standard of patient care. The role involves supporting veterinarians and technicians in all aspects of animal care, including restraining patients during physical exams, treatments, and procedures. The Veterinary Assistant acts as an advocate for patients to ensure they receive proper care in a safe and comfortable manner.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in a veterinary, animal care, or pet boarding environment preferred
- Comfortable with animal handling and restraint
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A positive attitude and a desire to grow within the veterinary field
- High school diploma or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and procedures
- Safely restraining animals for exams and treatments
- Taking vital signs and collecting patient histories
- Administering medications (under supervision)
- Cleaning and maintaining exam rooms, surgical suites, and equipment
- Providing compassionate care and support to clients and patients
- Maintaining accurate patient records and assisting with inventory
- Supporting the hospital team in daily operations and patient flow
