The Veterinary Assistant assists the veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment, monitors hospitalized pets, maintains inventory, prepares prescriptions, performs routine in-house laboratory work, educates clients regarding veterinary care and procedures, and assists with surgical procedures. The role requires patience, compassion, collaboration, strong communication, organization skills, and a focus on client satisfaction. Essential responsibilities include assisting veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures, preparing patients for surgery, monitoring vital signs during surgery, obtaining and processing laboratory samples, taking and developing radiographs, administering medications and treatments, maintaining cleanliness of exam rooms and equipment, and demonstrating professionalism and compassion in all interactions.
