About The Position

Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services is excited to announce we are looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our busy emergency and surgery practice here in Staten Island! If you have experience working with animals, then we want to hear from you! Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services is looking for hard-working, motivated candidates who have the desire to learn and be part of a team to help support our growing practice. You must have a flexible schedule to support our 24-hour hospital. We are a multispecialty practice with boarded specialists in cardiology, surgery, and critical care. Our clients and patients also have access to internal medicine, ophthalmology, oncology, radiation oncology, neurology, dermatology, and radioactive iodine treatment via our affiliated practices in Woodbridge and Eatontown, NJ. Veterinary Assistants at GSiVS work as part of the team, ensuring that all patients receive the best care possible ensuring a safe and smooth ER experience while at the hospital. The primary role for the assistant is to help facilitate the treatment and examination of patients by technicians and doctors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to doctors and technicians
  • Restrain patients for exams and procedures
  • Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing
  • Monitor and document patient’s vital signs
  • Assist with obtaining radiographs
  • Properly use and maintain hospital equipment
  • Helps keep hospital clean, neat and stocked
  • Walk dogs as directed
  • Feed patients as directed
  • Laundry
