About The Position
Kiln Creek Animal Care is seeking a passionate Veterinary Assistant to join their team in Newport News, VA. This AAHA-Accredited practice is dedicated to providing high-quality small animal medicine and offers a supportive environment with opportunities for continued education and career advancement. The Veterinary Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring exceptional patient care and creating a positive client experience. The role involves hands-on patient care, supporting the medical team, assisting with client communication and administrative tasks, and maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment. Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
- Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- At least 1 year of veterinary hospital experience preferred.
- Flexibility to assist with urgent care shifts.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the medical team with hands-on patient care.
- Ensuring every animal is treated with compassion and respect.
- Anticipating the needs of veterinarians and technicians to ensure a smooth, efficient, and collaborative workflow.
- Assisting with scheduling, payments, and communications with clients.
- Performing clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance.
- Maintaining a safe and clean hospital environment.
